Xiaomi announced on the 26th that it recorded 87.8 billion yuan in sales and 15.2 billion yuan in total profit in the second quarter of this year. Sales rose 64.0% year-on-year, while gross profit rose 96.7%. Its adjusted net profit is about 6.3 billion yuan (about 1.1393 trillion won), up 87.4 percent year-on-year.
Both the group's total sales and adjusted net income hit record highs during the quarter.
Total sales of Xiaomi's second quarter smartphones reached 59.1 billion yuan (about 10.654 trillion won), up 86.8 percent year-on-year. Global smartphone shipments by the group increased 86.8% year-on-year to 52.9 million units.
Sales of Internet of Things (IoT) and lifestyle products in the second quarter of this year increased 35.9% year-on-year to 20.7 billion yuan (about KRW 3.7214 trillion).
Global shipments of Xiaomi Smart TVs surpassed 2.5 million units in the second quarter, and its IoT and lifestyle products also maintained rapid growth in overseas markets. Sales of IoT and lifestyle products in foreign markets increased by 93.8% compared to the same period last year. Electric scooters, smart TVs, smartbands and smartwatches have maintained wide popularity in overseas markets.
As of June 30, IoT devices connected to Group AIoT platforms excluding smartphones and laptops were 374.5 million units, up 34.0% year-on-year. The number of users with more than five devices connected to the AIoT platform is 7.4 million, up 44.5% from the same period last year.
Sales of Internet services in the second quarter reached a record high of 7 billion yuan (approximately 1.2595 trillion won), up 19.1 percent year-on-year.Sales of foreign Internet services rose 96.8% year-on-year to 1.1 billion yuan (approximately 7.9 billion won), while sales of foreign Internet services accounted for 15.6% of total sales of Internet services.
Sales in overseas markets rose 81.6% year-on-year to a record high of 43.6 billion yuan (about 7.8458 trillion won), accounting for 49.7% of total sales.
